Two San Diego-based armed support associates have gained their respective armed forces branches’ United Provider Companies Services Member of the Calendar year awards, it was declared Wednesday.

Sgt. Nolan P. McShane — a Maritime stationed at Camp Pendleton — and Petty Officer 3rd Course Lauren J. Singer — a sailor at Naval Air Station North Island on Coronado — will be honored this 7 days for their existence-conserving initiatives this year. Singer will be honored Wednesday by her command, and McShane will receive his award Thursday.
Every single 12 months, the USO honors the heroism of junior enlisted provider users, E-5 or beneath, with the USO Service Member of the Calendar year Awards. McShane was overseeing a teaching training in Twentynine Palms when a fellow Marine was seriously wounded. He controlled the chaos, verified tourniquet placement and inspected stress dressings to assist stabilize the wounded Marine ahead of he was evacuated to a hospital. McShane serves with the Maritime Corps’ 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Singer was touring above the Coronado Bridge when her actions prevented a motorist from using his very own lifetime. Singer serves with the Navy’s Helicopter Sea Beat Squadron 14 and is from Williamsburg, Virginia.
