This Old Highland Park home includes impressive architectural details and a massive closet

Situated on 0.39 acres in Highland Park, this custom-built home bears a stately appearance with its unique architectural design and limestone exterior. On the inside, the 8,156-square-foot home boasts natural light, a winding staircase and luxury details from floor to ceiling.

The home was custom built in 2005, and listing agent Diane DuVall bills it as a contemporary design. The home has three bedrooms, four bathrooms and three half-bathrooms. An important note, however, is that the closet in the primary suite could be converted into a fourth bedroom — it’s really that big of a space.

DuVall said this is the first time the home has been on the market publicly since it was built (the current owners acquired it through an off-market sale in 2014). She said the home was recently renovated by the sellers in what was a two-year renovation throughout the entire house.

“The home embraces all of the uncompromising quality one would wish for in a truly spectacular luxury residence and, at the same time, it exudes a unique, warm and peaceful ambience,” DuVall said.

A floating limestone staircase sits at the front of the house, spiraling around the two-level entry into the home. Past the entry, the dining room and large living room flow together with an open concept. Each room features large steel windows that allow in plenty of light, and the ceilings are adorned with a warm-toned wood that catches the eye.

The kitchen has marble walls and custom mahogany cabinets and a large center island with multiple seats. A breakfast room rests off to one side of the kitchen, surrounded by windows that provide views of the property.

The primary suite, which sits on the second floor, features a large bathroom and closet. The suite has his-and-her style bathrooms, each adorned with marble walls and mahogany cabinets. There’s a freestanding bathtub and a steam shower, and the floors in the bathroom are heated, too.

The suite has a coffee bar (or wet bar), complete with a refrigerator and ice maker. And the closet, which was converted from what used to be a bedroom, is expansive. The closet has custom-designed storage, a marble vanity area, glass shelves, mirrors and sensor-activated lighting to showcase the items it houses. There’s even a separate room designated to showcase the owner’s handbag collection.

The remaining two bedrooms sit on the second floor, each with en suite bathrooms.

The home has a fully-outfitted basement that houses a large living area, a wet bar, a wine cellar with room for dining, an exercise room and a half-bathroom.

Outside, there’s a covered patio with a kitchen and grill. The home has a pool and spa and artificial grass. The property is surrounded by a limestone retaining wall to create privacy, and there is a three-car garage as well.

3701 Lexington Avenue is listed for $9.45 million by Diane DuVall and Faisal Halum of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.
