See an Excerpt From the Doors’ Future ‘Morrison Hotel’ Graphic Novel

The Doors have shared an exceptional excerpt from their impending biographical comedian, Morrison Resort, which captures the moments leading up to the band’s notorious March 1st, 1969 exhibit at the Meal Crucial Auditorium in Miami. The reserve, which is remaining posted by Z2 Comics, was also specified a new launch day of March 16th (pre-get right here).

The pages uncover the Doorways — very well, at least every person besides the conspicuously absent Jim Morrison — marveling at the way-larger-than-predicted crowd that is packed into the venue. As a newly bearded Morrison hops on a late aircraft to the gig and flirts with the flight attendants, the band’s supervisor haggles with the venue proprietor, who’s oversold the present but refuses to give the Doorways any much more cash than the first contract stipulated.

Not revealed in the excerpt are Morrison’s raucous exploits all through the gig, and his arrest days later on for indecent publicity, profanity, and public drunkenness.

The Morrison Lodge comedian was composed by Leah Moore in collaboration with the surviving users of the Doors, even though numerous artists from around the environment contributed to the graphic novel.

“The Doors have so a lot theatre, and swagger and storytelling, they are a totally all-natural fit for a comic,” Moore informed Rolling Stone very last year about the venture. “The lyrics they wrote, and the energy they played with — I imagine the songs really don’t just lend by themselves to the medium, they really cry out to be comics.”

Together with sharing the excerpt and announcing the new release day, the Doors also disclosed the artwork for a particular 50th-anniversary picture disc repressing of Morrison Resort. The LP will boast the original 1970 stereo combine of the album, remastered by prolonged-time Doorways engineer Bruce Botnick.
