Now we come to that time of year (and what a calendar year it is been) the place, traditionally we ― you and I ―reflect on wherever we have long gone alongside one another on our journey toward much better dwelling. For my last two columns of the year, I revisit my favored lessons, just one a month, from the year’s columns. Here are my major takeaways from the to start with 6 months of 2020.

In JANUARY, Unwell of the mud our three dogs saved tracking in from the lawn, the place the lawn wouldn’t develop, for the reason that the trees were being overgrown, my husband and I received qualified support. As we sat on the patio overlooking our mud pit with landscape designer Tony Evans, he asked what we preferred. DC and I sputtered alternatives: a fountain, a firepit, a pool, no additional mud. Two months afterwards Evan’s arrived back again with a strategy, much better than we could have imagined, which was, just after all, why we employed him. It would be seven months before the vision became genuine, and the property acquired muddier in advance of it bought far better. Nevertheless, as COVID closed off the entire world, our new outdoor room, which turned considerably more usable, shipped greater returns than we could have imagined.
