Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Past thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors authorized contributing $43,900 to the Metropolis of Marinette towards the purchase of a new 24 ft lookup and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be in a position to use the airboat. However, at yesterday’s County Board conference a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to reconsider motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Town of Marinette for invest in of the Airboat. Because the Metropolis of Marinette has not long ago allocated $500 for every personnel for COVID-19 vaccinations applying ARPA resources when they could have employed their ARPA funds towards the funding of the airboat as an alternative of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre claims, “the City of Marinette got $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller suggests, “there is a motive why the city is wanting for participation in the getting of the airboat.”

Following a prolonged dialogue, the board voted, and it arrived in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The envisioned delivery date of the airboat is mid-January.
