A cross-college or university consortium of MSU college students conceptualized a suite of yard models aimed at helping educational facilities create learning gardens based on their educational desires. The Dwelling Place: A Freeware Discovering Backyard Centered on Wellbeing, Food items and Nutrition Education received an Honor Award for Scholar Collaboration at the American Society of Landscape Architects, or ASLA. The staff, which included 10 landscape architecture learners, 10 architecture learners and one particular graphic structure scholar, was recognized at the society’s latest digital conference.

Cory Gallo, MSU associate professor of landscape architecture in the College of Agriculture and Lifestyle Sciences, served as college advisor for the group.

Gallo discussed the garden’s concept was further illustrated in two proof-of-notion designs—one that has been put in at Galloway Elementary School in Jackson and an additional scheduled for installation at the Starkville Oktibbeha Faculty District Partnership College at MSU in spring 2021.
