Place music’s greatest names, celebrities and admirers took to social media Saturday to honor Charley Satisfaction, who died at 86.
Satisfaction, who became the genre’s initial Black celebrity with “Kiss an Angel Very good Mornin’ ” and dozens of other hits, died in Dallas on Saturday from complications of COVID-19, in accordance to a news launch from Pride’s publicist, Jeremy Westby.
Dolly Parton prolonged her condolences to Pride’s friends and family and wrote a touching concept on Twitter.
“I’m so heartbroken that a person of my dearest and oldest friends, Charley Delight, has passed absent. It is even worse to know that he passed away from COVID-19. What a awful, terrible virus. Charley, we will always enjoy you,” Parton wrote.
Reba McEntire shared a black and white image of Satisfaction with his guitar, acknowledging that the star “will often be a legend.”
“He will really be skipped but will often be remembered for his excellent new music, excellent individuality and his large coronary heart. My views are with his wife Rozene and their loved ones. RIP, Charley,” Reba tweeted.
“I just can’t envision what this gentleman went as a result of as a Black State Audio artist attempting to split into this company, but what a occupation he experienced,” Jason Aldean tweeted.
“State Songs” documentarian Ken Burns hailed Delight as a trailblazer “whose exceptional voice & generous spirit broke down boundaries in nation music just as his hero Jackie Robinson experienced in baseball. His last performance was his hit, ‘Kiss an Angel Good Mornin.’ ‘ Now he is a single.”
“Achy Breaky Heart” star Billy Ray Cyrus shared a photo of himself with Delight and called him “A gentleman … legend and real path blazer. With much respect.”
Lee Greenwood, acknowledged for his song “God Bless the U.S.A.,” shared multiple photos of himself with his “expensive good friend” Satisfaction.
“Charley Pleasure was a expensive friend & definitely a person of the sweetest gentlemen in the music organization. I was privileged to be his opening act when I first arrived to city,” Greenwood tweeted. “He treated all people with respect & kindness. I’m in shock & so unfortunate due to the fact I missing a good mate, the new music business misplaced an remarkable artist and the earth dropped an astounding citizen.”
Martina McBride wrote: “So saddened to hear about the passing of Charley Satisfaction. Prayers for his wife Rozene and his spouse and children.”
Luke Combs reflected on the time he satisfied Pleasure at the Grand Ole Opry.
“I experienced the enjoyment of assembly Charley Delight when I was actively playing the @opry,” Combs wrote. “I was in awe of his existence and his expertise.
