Brooks & Marshall’s Joyous Gift of HOLIDAZE HARMONY

BWW Review: Brooks & Marshall's Joyous Gift of HOLIDAZE HARMONY

You know you might be in for a enjoyable display when HOLIDAZE HARMONY commences off with the two performers singing “The Chipmunk Track (Christmas Do not Be Late),” while respiratory in helium balloons. HOLIDAZE HARMONY capabilities the pleasant tune stylings of two charismatic Broadway performers Terron Brooks and Kamilah Marshall. The chemistry of these two lengthy-time pals glow by all through the total exhibit, whether or not in their playful patter or their lovingly sharing the highlight.

Terron’s vocal range is remarkable, wowing in his solo “When Christmas Arrives Along.” Often he hits better notes than Kamilah (i.e. “I Got My Enjoy To Preserve Me Heat”). When some clever particular person provides a display on the life of the amazing Roberta Flack, please, remember to, cast Kamilah. With her vibrant temperament, her large smile (just like Ms. Flack), and specified tonal phrases (near your eyes and you could swear it is really Roberta Flack singing!), Kamilah would be fantastic as the terrific Roberta Flack.

HOLIDAZE HARMONY mixes up up to date (Paul McCartney‘s “Fantastic Christmastime”), and originals (“It is Xmas Day”) with some classic Christmas standards. Their magnificent edition of the typical “O Occur, O Come Emmanuel” (with the location on minimalism of Nate Light’s bass, Peter Buck’s drums and musical director Peter Smith on the piano keys) brought tears.

BWW Review: Brooks & Marshall's Joyous Gift of HOLIDAZE HARMONYDecked in huge afros and pink Christmas print suits, Terron and Kamilah hysterically conduct their “Black Donny and Black Marie” medley of tracks, nailing their properly cheesy choreography.

Joseph Leo Bwarie sharply directs this movie capture (with exact editing by Jennifer Hatton) splitting up live performance footage with Terron and Kamilah seated on a couch breaking the fourth wall with some intimate behind-the-scenes chats with the viewers.

Filmed on the Garry Marshall Theatre stage, the simplicity of the crisscrossed banners by onstage set designer Tanya Orellana make for a most striking backdrop complemented by the mood-shifting lights by JM Montecalvo.

The 60-minute clearly show finishes fittingly with “O Holy Evenings” above the finish credits.

Co-developed by Joseph Leo Bwarie, the Garry Marshall Theatre and Dim Blue Mondaze, HOLIDAZE HARMONY‘s a most welcomed Xmas gift of joyous amusement. Thank you, Terron, Kamilah and business!
