3 men and women have been killed and five others wounded soon after an deserted bomb exploded in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, police say.
The blast occurred in the city’s Lideta neighbourhood on Sunday.
The individuals who died had been homeless and living on the streets, senior law enforcement officer commander Alemayehu Ayalke instructed state broadcaster EBC.
There is no indicator that this explosion is joined to the disaster in the northern Tigray location.
Combating between federal and regional troops from the Tigray People’s Liberation Entrance (TPLF) began there on 4 November and has pressured 50,000 men and women into Sudan.
There have been other incidents in which law enforcement reported “deserted” bombs were being both located or detonated in Addis Ababa in current weeks, but most of these did not lead to fatalities, states the BBC’s Kalkidan Yibeltal.
Reuters news agency reports that law enforcement have blamed the TPLF in a number of prior scenarios, but have not manufactured evidence to again up the accusation.
“An investigation about the explosion is now going on and the general public will be educated as soon as the investigation is done,” the state-owned Ethiopia Information Agency reported on Sunday.
