I grew up in a time when the stereotyped portrayal of Indigenous men and women was that found in early western videos. For instance, as a boy or girl I would see a Plains tribal member being played by a non-Indigenous particular person speaking my personal Díne language, when plainly the character was not of my tribe. And I actually cannot assume of a single guide that represented me when I was in university. In simple fact, I didn’t see a reflection of myself on television, in guides, in university, or in educational elements. 

Now as an educator, I am energized to see the improve in educational resources that elevate the variety of Native peoples, and to see them become much more readily available. I am also energized to be filling my shelves with guides that depict my students—I am main with an equitable lens so that my classroom represents my learners and honors their Indigenous identity.
