Who won? Sunshine, Crocodile, Mushroom revealed
Spoiler notify! The subsequent consists of facts from the Dec. 16 episode of “The Masked Singer,” together with the identities of the unmasked superstars.
The Period Four finale of “The Masked Singer” has last but not least arrived.
In the vacation-themed episode, Solar, Mushroom and Crocodile gave their closing performances — and clues — for in-dwelling detectives Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Ken Jeong. While Crocodile and Mushroom left it all on the stage, Sun finally eclipsed the competition to come to be the winner.
But who are these singers?
This is anything that went down for the duration of Wednesday night’s two-hour finale, which saw a few singers unmasked, two trophies awarded and a slew of getaway clues unwrapped.
The street to the finale…
Just before they carried out, each of the remaining contestants reflected on the journey to the finals — and reminded viewers of their earlier clues.
Sunshine has shined bright throughout the season — but carrying her costume has not been quick. She reported her major mask has designed her experience like she was going to slide above at times, and she’s even had her costume restructured so she could hit specific notes. Her clue packages have been whole of mother nature hints, like woods and an icicle, and she even breathed fire in a single episode. Her clues have also involved creatures like a blue butterfly, little cows, a chihuahua and a jaguar.
As to who’s driving the mask? Panelists’ guesses throughout the period have included Mandy Moore, LeAnn Rimes, Katharine McPhee, Carrie Underwood, Kate Hudson and Demi Lovato.
Crocodile’s clues have provided a great deal of drinking water references, like a slip n’ slide, toy boat, anchor and a piñata whole of dolphins. There also have been flags, such as an Italian flag, American flag and a Jolly Roger flag. His tremendous clue was a rat feeding on pizza, and earlier guesses from the panel have provided Jon Hamm, Jared Leto, Adam Lambert, Justin Guarini, Jordan Knight and Nick Lachey. Furthermore, you should not overlook that he is a father (He is only pointed out his “crocklings” about 20 instances).
Mushroom’s earlier clues have been breakfast themed, with eggs, pancakes and orange juice having collectively at a desk, as well as a warm pet stand with a hat for an umbrella. Plus, he’s mentioned that “the name that I go by now was not my name when I 1st sprouted.” Previous guesses have included Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Usher, Jordan Fisher, Jaden Smith and Donald Glover.
But which is not all — to kick off last performances, each contestant supplied a new clue, in the kind of a getaway cookie (a clue-kie, if you will).
Mushroom’s cookies spelled out the amount “50,” with the zero displaying the solar process in frosting. Sun’s cookies were a sun and a 2,000 pound fat. Crocodile’s two cookies were being each heart-formed, a person with black frosting, the other with blue frosting.
Crocodile
Then it was showtime, with Crocodile using the phase to start with.
Crocodile mentioned he chose a “deeply private” song to perform and described developing up “dirt poor” and having to mow lawns in order to buy his initially album: Frontiers by Journey. He sang the rock band’s track “Open up Arms.”
To get into the holiday getaway spirit, just about every contestant also introduced their ultimate clue in the form a present to a panelist. Crocodile’s present, a small angel, went to McCarthy.
“Looks like you, Jenny,” Scherzinger explained. McCarthy quipped again, “Just as plastic, also!”
Mushroom
Turns out, Crocodile isn’t really the only parent in the ultimate a few. In advance of having the phase, Mushroom revealed he’s a dad too, describing how his daughter has motivated his performances.
“I channel her mannerisms, her voice, her love of dressing up, every time I move out on this phase, and she doesn’t even know I’m carrying out this!” he claimed.
According to Mushroom, quite a few have listened to his music shopping in supermarkets and on the radio — though few may perhaps know his title. He sang his daughter’s preferred track, “I Would like” by Stevie Wonder.
“Songs is truly the common language that connects us all, and Mushroom is a connector,” the singer said, right after his rousing rendition. “And in this article we are in masks and costumes, just delivering messages that can resonate with absolutely everyone.”
This gave McCarthy an idea. “So he’s a producer that can sing, in all probability,” she said. Mushroom then gifted Scherzinger a tub of “mushroom cookie dough ice cream.”
Solar
Last but not least, the Sun rose for her remaining overall performance on “The Masked Singer” stage.
Right before executing so, she exposed she’s been in the amusement marketplace considering the fact that she was a kid, prior to singing “The Story” by Brandi Carlile.
For her reward, she gave a good deal of mistletoe to Thicke. “This is just a tiny one thing to say thank you for all your compliments and encouragement this period,” she reported.
And the winner is…
And just like that, it was time to expose the winner, as very well as the individuals guiding the final 3 masks.
First up, finishing third, was Crocodile. Jeong’s to start with impressions guess from before in the season was Bradley Cooper, but clues have since led him to settle on Lachey. Scherzinger’s initial perception was Lachey, but she switched to Knight. Thicke’s 1st perception was Knight, but he eventually settled on Howie Dorough. McCarthy had picked Nick Carter, and, right after her angel gift, decided to stick with that guess, noting Carter has a sister named Angel.
When it was time to just take the mask off, McCarthy was correct: It was Carter.
Next up, in second place, was Mushroom.
McCarthy first guessed singer-songwriter Maxwell, but the ice cream gift was a “activity-switching clue,” she mentioned. Thinking of Neapolitan ice product, McCarthy settled on Ne-Yo. Jeong had guessed Justin Timberlake, but switched to Pharrell Williams following thinking of the hat clue. Scherzinger switched her guess from Glover to Aloe Blacc. Thicke also settled on Blacc, switching from his initial guess of Billy Porter.

And, just after the unmasking, Scherzinger and Thicke were right: It was singer, songwriter and history producer Blacc.
Last but not the very least, the winner of “The Masked Singer,” the Sunlight, was unveiled.
McCarthy had guessed Lovato, but clues about the Northern Lights produced her settle on Rimes, who starred in the 2009 movie “Northern Lights.” Jeong made use of to believe Solar was Gwyneth Paltrow but landed on Mandy Moore, while Scherzinger switched from McPhee to Rimes just after clues with the color blue built her think of Rimes’ Grammy-winning tune “Blue.” Thicke had thought it was Natasha Bedingfield, but settled on McPhee.
And Scherzinger and McCarthy were being correct: the Sun was Rimes!
“This has been an overpowering encounter,” she mentioned. “I did not count on this to be this a lot get the job done, I have to say… It was a blast.”
But she was not the only winner.
In case you forgot, this year also saw the panelists competing for the very first time for the Golden Ear trophy, bestowed to whoever had the most appropriate initially impressions guesses.
With 4 right initial impressions, McCarthy took house the prize.
“I’d like to thank my ENT for cleaning out my earwax in advance of this season,” she explained. “And, of training course, my fellow judges for not striving as tough as me.”
