Personnel, supporters rally as professional-China information channel in Taiwan taken off air

Staff members and supporters rallied for a Taiwanese professional-China cable information channel as it was taken off air Saturday, soon after the government refused to renew its license, citing accuracy concerns.

CTiTV’s channel 52 broadcast a countdown and then went black after midnight. The cable network, whose non-news channels were not affected, options to go on placing information on YouTube and other electronic platforms.

A big group chanted “Hang on, CTiTV” and held up indicators reading through “Thank you CTiTV, we will see you again.” Workers, some tearing up, sang music and swayed in unison carrying matching blue windbreakers.

Liao Chia-yu, a language instructor, mentioned she would preserve looking at CTiTV on YouTube. “I also hope they really don’t neglect their ideals,” Liao stated. “They need to set out no matter what they want, and report on the truth.”
